Compassion and Choices
November 17, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Brian Monteiro, Compassion and Choices Campaign Manager (Massachusetts & NE States) will discuss how medical aid in dying is a medical practice that allows terminally ill, mentally capable adults to request and receive a prescription for medication that they may choose to self-ingest to bring about a peaceful death if their suffering becomes unbearable.
Ten jurisdictions currently authorize medical aid in dying: Oregon, Washington, Montana, Vermont, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawai‘i and most recently New Jersey and Maine. This year, the Massachusetts Legislature will consider whether to offer this important end-of-life care option to residents of the Commonwealth. Come hear about the movement to expand end-of-life options and the work of Compassion & Choices, the national nonprofit whose mission is to improve care, expand options, and empower everyone to chart their end-of-life journey.
This event will be held at First Parish Unitarian Universalist 23 Dedham Avenue, Needham, MA 02492. For more information on First Parish Needham, please visit www.uuneedham.org.
